Manama, : Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, underscored Bahrain’s commitment to the transition towards clean energy and a sustainable future, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
On the International Day of Clean Energy, observed on January 26, the minister emphasised Team Bahrain’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 through national clean energy initiatives. These include reducing carbon emissions, promoting solar panel installation, supporting electric vehicle adoption, and integrating clean energy into economic and social development.
He also highlighted the strategic importance of renewable energy projects in advancing Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the government programme.
These projects aim to deliver innovative, efficient solutions to enhance energy use, optimise resource management, and reduce waste. The ministry remains committed to implementing projects that ensure the sustainability of the electricity and water sectors, the minister added.
The International Day of Clean Energy coincides with the establishment of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in 2009, which supports countries in their energy transitions by providing data, analysis, and a platform for international cooperation on innovation, financing, and investment in clean energy technologies.
