Manama : The Bahrain Space Agency announced the selection of its engineer, Yousif Khalid Al Qattan, as leader of the Arab Space Pioneers team implementing the Arab Satellite 813 Project.
Al Qattan was assigned to present progress updates on the project during meetings of the Arab Space Cooperation Group and at the International Astronautical Congress in Sydney. He reviewed the project’s key objectives and confirmed the completion of all technical requirements ahead of the satellite’s planned launch before the end of the year.
Officials from the UAE’s National Space Science and Technology Center, which oversees the project, and participating delegation heads commended the high level of competence demonstrated by the Bahrain Space Agency representative.

Al Qattan said the Arab Space Pioneers Programme had provided an important opportunity in his educational and professional journey. He expressed his aspiration to further develop his expertise in satellite development and ground station management to support the agency’s future projects.
Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Space Agency, expressed pride in Al Qattan’s selection, noting that it reflects the capabilities of Bahraini youth and the strong support they receive.
He highlighted that the agency continues to build national capacity in space sciences by empowering young talents and enabling them to develop academically and professionally, contributing to Bahrain’s growing scientific community.
Dr. Al Aseeri congratulated Al Qattan on leading the Arab team during one of its key stages and wished him continued success in his academic and professional path.
The Bahrain Space Agency noted that the selection process for the Arab Space Pioneers Programme follows rigorous standards to identify the most qualified candidates from across the Arab world.
