Manama : The eighth edition of the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2025 will begin on Tuesday, April 15, under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister. The two-day summit will take place at the Sheraton Hotel on April 15 and 16.
Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, emphasised the importance of the summit as one of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s key specialised events, drawing wide local and international participation.
The event aims to leverage global expertise and integrate it with Bahrain’s leading local experiences in smart urban development, the Minister added.
The Minister noted that the summit’s panel sessions will explore successful international models and their applicability to sustainable smart cities and artificial intelligence. He described the summit as a regional platform combining a high-level conference, an interactive technology exhibition, and an awards ceremony recognising outstanding achievements in urban innovation and sustainability.
Nine government entities from the Kingdom of Bahrain are participating, including the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), and Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). This reflects the government’s commitment to advancing digital and environmental transformation towards smarter, more efficient cities.
The summit will also feature participation from several regional countries and organisations, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar, the Republic of Djibouti, and the Arab Towns Organisation, enhancing regional cooperation in smart urban planning and sustainable digital solutions.
The agenda features over twenty topics covering various dimensions of smart cities, including artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, cybersecurity, fintech, smart construction technologies, and smart mobility.
]Discussions will also highlight heritage preservation in modern urban environments and showcase notable international case studies, including sustainable afforestation and smart irrigation initiatives from the Sultanate of Oman. Bahrain’s own National Real Estate DataBank (Aqari) will be presented as a national model for data integration in the real estate sector.
An accompanying exhibition will feature over 15 exhibitors from government bodies, local and international companies, and start-ups, showcasing smart solutions in transportation, energy, urban planning, and digital governance. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage directly with project owners and explore practical applications shaping the future of smart cities in the region.
During the official opening ceremony, winners of the fifth Bahrain Smart Cities Awards will be announced. The awards recognise innovative initiatives contributing to new models of smart and sustainable urban living, with categories spanning artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, waste management, fintech, ESG governance, renewable energy, and integrated cross-sector projects.
