Bahrain has announced the death of a 46-year-old male expatriate, a registered active case of coronavirus suffering from underlying and chronic health problems, taking the country’s total deaths to 23.
The Ministry of Health expresses its heartfelt condolences to the individual’s family at this difficult time.
The patient, along with all other active COVID-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team.
By yesterday’s 539 new cases, the country had reached 13,835 of which 8,585 have recovered making over 62 percent of the confirmed cases to recover from the virus.
Meanwhile, a record of 857 recoveries were reported yesterday. Currently, there are 5,227 active cases.
Also, 55 COVID-19 cases receiving treatment, of which 11 are in a critical condition.
So far the country has conducted 354,122 tests, which is among the highest when looking at the country’s population.
An increase in coronavirus cases among the Bahrainis was noticed by the MOH in recent days.
“The reasons for the increase in the number of cases among the citizens are due to family and social gatherings during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,” said Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in a press conference.
