New York : : The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin at the United Nation’s headquarters.
The Undersecretary for Political Affairs stressed Bahrain’s keenness to enhance cooperation and partnership with the ITU in the fields of communications, information technology and cybersecurity in line with the sustainable development goals. He also underscored Bahrain’s leadership in the field of digital transformation, active membership in the ITU, and presidency of the Digital Cooperation Organisation, noting in this regard the Kingdom’s Telecommunications, ICT, and Digital Economy Sector Strategy (2022-2026).
ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin appreciated the constructive cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain in organising the Regional Development Forum for the Arab States in coordination with the Arab Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union next November, praising the Kingdom’s progress in international development indicators, and its support for regional and global partnerships in supporting comprehensive and sustainable development.
