Russia : Russia has recorded an all-time high of 808 deaths related to the coronavirus in one day, authorities said on Thursday. Bahrain : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa sent a cable of condolences to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on the victims of the wildfires which ripped through several Algerian governorates, leaving dozens dead. US : U.S. official tells CBS News the Pentagon is sending troops to Karzai International Airport in Kabul to help evacuate the embassy as the Taliban continues its offensive. Paris : Lionel Messi’s contract at Paris Saint Germain includes some of the French club’s cryptocurrency fan tokens. South Korea : A K-pop star has been jailed for three years for crimes including providing prostitutes to foreign businessmen and embezzling funds. Seungri, a former member of boy band Big Bang, was also fined 1.15 billion won (£714,000), South Korea’s Defence Ministry said. Before his fall from grace, the singer had been one of K-pop’s biggest stars, with a huge fan base in Asia and around the world.
