Haiti : The 7.2-magnitude quake hit the west of the country on Saturday morning, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Images on social media showed buildings reduced to rubble. The prime minister said it had caused “several” deaths and “enormous damage”, though the exact toll remains unclear. Haiti is still recovering from a devastating 2010 earthquake, which killed more than 200,000 people. The epicentre of Saturday’s earthquake was about 12km (7.5 miles) from the town of Saint-Louis du Sud. China’s securities regulators punished 19 institutional investors as authorities tighten scrutiny over price-setting behaviour. China launched the tech-focused STAR Market in Shanghai in mid-2019, and introduction of a U.S.-style, registration-based initial public offering (IPO) system in that market. The Securities Association of China (SAC) said late on Friday that a joint probe recently with the Shanghai Stock Exchange over STAR IPOs had exposed issues with 19 institutional investors. Bad Nauheim : The small picturesque German town of Bad Nauheim has unveiled a bronze statue commemorating one of its most famous residents – Elvis Presley, said dpa international. The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll lived in Bad Nauheim while he was stationed as a US soldier in neighbouring Friedberg from October 1958 to March 1960. After months of work, the statue was completed last October. But the town authorities were forced to drop plans to unveil it in January as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. New Delhi: IndiGo will start daily flights connecting Gwalior with Indore in Madhya Pradesh and Delhi starting September 1, Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Friday. “IndiGo will start daily flights from Madhya Pradesh from September 1: Delhi-Gwalior-Delhi; Gwalior-Indore-Gwalior; Indore-Gwalior-Indore; Gwalior-Delhi-Gwalior,” he said on Twitter. Mr Scindia had on Thursday flagged off IndiGo’s Bareilly-Mumbai flight that would operate under regional connectivity scheme UDAN. “Under the guidance of our visionary Prime Minister, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is determined to facilitate the movement of citizens across the country and give wings to their development,” the minister tweeted on Friday.
