Kuwait : Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Shaikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah today held a phone all with his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi. Washington : Colin Powell, former Joint Chiefs chairman and secretary of state, has died from COVID-19 complications, his family said Monday. He was 84. Bahrain: Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Alzayani held a meeting remotely with Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed bin Aqeel Al Khateeb and reviewed bilateral relations , focusing on the tourism sector, in addition to issues of common interest. Dubai : A fire erupted on Monday at a major oil refinery in Kuwait, the state-owned oil company said, reporting that some workers suffered from smoke inhalation and other light injuries. The blaze at the key Mina Al-Ahmadi oil refinery along Kuwait’s Arab Gulf coastline north of its border with Saudi Arabia did not affect the electrical supply or oil exports, according to Kuwait’s National Petroleum Company. Several oil contractors were receiving treatment for their burns at a nearby hospital, the company added. The European Union’s top official said that the bloc has now exported over one billion doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the rest of the world. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the vaccines have been sent to over 150 nations, making the 27-member bloc the largest exporter of the vaccines in the world. Myanmar will release 5,636 people jailed for protesting against a February coup which ousted the civilian government. Junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said on Monday the protesters will be freed to mark the Thadingyut festival later in October. The announcement came just days after Hlaing was excluded from a regional summit over his government’s commitment to defusing the bloody crisis. Myanmar has been mired in chaos since the coup, with more than 1,100 civilians killed in a bloody crackdown on dissent and more than 8,000 arrested according to a local monitoring group.
In a show of friendship, Israeli and German fighter jets flew over the skies of Jerusalem for the first time since World War 1, as the two nations carried out a joint military exercise.
