Dublin : : Leo Varadkar announced on Wednesday he was stepping down as Ireland’s prime minister in a surprise move. Varadkar’s Fine Gael party will open nominations for a new leader on Thursday with the results to be announced on April 5. “My reasons for stepping down are both personal and political,” Varadkar said during a news conference.

Beijing : A passenger bus collided into a tunnel wall in north China’s Shanxi province on Tuesday, killing 14 people and injuring 37 others. According to local authorities the accident happened at 2:37 p.m. (0637 GMT) on the Hubei expressway, state broadcaster CCTV news said, and many people were sent to hospital for treatment.
