Manama : Bahrain has been ranked in the highest global category in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialised UN agency. The index assesses the cybersecurity capabilities of 194 countries. Manama : Bahrain’s International Affairs and INTERPOL Directorate, in cooperation with the Public Prosecution, has successfully extradited a Bahraini national from a neighbouring country. The individual was wanted to serve court issued sentences for involvement in terrorist activities. The Directorate confirmed that the extradition was carried out after an international alert was issued based on an arrest warrant from Bahrain’s Public Prosecution. All necessary legal procedures were followed, and the suspect has been handed over to the relevant security authorities.

Hanoi : Vietnamese authorities have reported that the death toll from Typhoon Yagi has risen to 254, with 820 others injured. Bangkok : Thailand deployed military special forces in the northern province of Chiang Rai after flooding marooned thousands that authorities are trying to reach with boats and helicopters. Geneva : The World Health Organisation said on Thursday it had carried out a rare evacuation of 97 people, around half of them children, from Gaza to the United Arab Emirates for medical treatment and urged the resumption of regular such transfers. “This was the largest evacuation yet from Gaza since October 2023,” Richard Peeperkorn, WHO Representative for the occupied Palestinian territory told reporters of the operation, which took place on Wednesday.
