Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates, the Republic of India, and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka have signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in developing the Sri Lankan city of Trincomalee into a regional energy hub in South Asia. Bangkok : The death toll from last week’s earthquake in Myanmar has risen to 3,354 as United Nations agencies and international donors intensified emergency relief efforts. The 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck a wide area, causing extensive damage across six regions. Power and telecommunications outages, along with damaged roads and bridges, have hampered the assessment of the full scale of the destruction. The earthquake has worsened the humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing civil war, which has displaced more than 3 million people and left nearly 20 million in need of assistance.
