Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, accompanied by his sons, attended the wedding of Shaikh Khalid bin Nasser bin Khalid bin Ahmed bin Salman Al Khalifa, grandson of Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of the Royal Court, held at his majlis in Riffa. The Royal Court Minister expressed gratitude to His Majesty the King for attending the wedding of his grandson Shaikh Khalid bin Nasser and for His Majesty’s congratulations.

London : UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a cabinet reshuffle following the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner. As part of the changes, Yvette Cooper was appointed Foreign Secretary, while her predecessor David Lammy assumed the posts of Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary. Shabana Mahmood was appointed Home Secretary with responsibility for key files, including illegal migration. Further appointments were made in the ministries of environment, business, housing, work and pensions.

Manama : The Ministry of Education has obtained the ISO 27001:2022 certification for information security management for the second consecutive year, after successfully meeting all audit and accreditation requirements by the internationally accredited RICI company. The achievement reflects the ministry’s ongoing efforts to advance information security management, adopt international best practices, and enhance digital infrastructure to ensure data protection and business continuity across its sectors. ISO 27001:2022 is one of the leading international standards for effective information security management, providing frameworks of policies and controls that safeguard privacy and availability of information in line with global digital governance.

Washington : US President Donald Trump signed an executive order reshaping his tariff programme, lifting duties on key minerals including gold alloys, graphite, tungsten and uranium. The exemptions also cover critical materials used in aerospace, electronics, medical devices and some pharmaceuticals, aimed at easing supply chain concerns. New tariffs were imposed on silicon products.

Beijing : China’s services trade reached 4.58 trillion yuan (USD 644.2 billion) in the first seven months of 2025, marking an 8.2% year-on-year increase, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce. Service exports grew 15.3% to nearly 2 trillion yuan, while imports rose 3.3% to 2.58 trillion yuan, resulting in a deficit of 581.56 billion yuan. Travel related services recorded a 10.4% increase to 1.26 trillion yuan, with exports surging 62.9%. Knowledge-intensive services also grew 6.8%, exceeding 1.77 trillion yuan.

New Delhi : Six people were killed and four others injured when a cable car carrying construction materials fell on a hillside in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat state. Local authorities said the accident occurred during construction work on the hill. Rescue teams rushed to the site, and the injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

El Arish : The 61st Saudi relief plane, operated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, arrived at El Arish International Airport in Egypt, carrying food baskets to be transported to the affected Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. This aid comes as part of the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to the Palestinian people in Gaza, to help alleviate the severe famine and difficult living conditions faced by the Strip.

Bangkok : Thailand’s parliament elected Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, as Prime Minister. In the parliamentary vote, Anutin won 311 votes out of 490, defeating Chaikasem Nitisiri of the Pheu Thai Party, who received 152 votes. Meanwhile, 27 lawmakers abstained. With this result, Anutin secured victory in Thailand’s first parliamentary vote to select a prime minister since 2019.

Geneva : Arguj Kalantarli, the newly appointed Secretary General of the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO), received Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office in Geneva, at the organisation’s headquarters.
