Washington : US President Donald Trump signed an executive order reshaping his tariff programme, lifting duties on key minerals including gold alloys, graphite, tungsten and uranium. The exemptions also cover critical materials used in aerospace, electronics, medical devices and some pharmaceuticals, aimed at easing supply chain concerns. New tariffs were imposed on silicon products.

Beijing : China’s services trade reached 4.58 trillion yuan (USD 644.2 billion) in the first seven months of 2025, marking an 8.2% year-on-year increase, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce. Service exports grew 15.3% to nearly 2 trillion yuan, while imports rose 3.3% to 2.58 trillion yuan, resulting in a deficit of 581.56 billion yuan. Travel related services recorded a 10.4% increase to 1.26 trillion yuan, with exports surging 62.9%. Knowledge-intensive services also grew 6.8%, exceeding 1.77 trillion yuan.

New Delhi : Six people were killed and four others injured when a cable car carrying construction materials fell on a hillside in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat state. Local authorities said the accident occurred during construction work on the hill. Rescue teams rushed to the site, and the injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

Bangkok : Thailand’s parliament elected Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, as Prime Minister. In the parliamentary vote, Anutin won 311 votes out of 490, defeating Chaikasem Nitisiri of the Pheu Thai Party, who received 152 votes. Meanwhile, 27 lawmakers abstained. With this result, Anutin secured victory in Thailand’s first parliamentary vote to select a prime minister since 2019.
