Manama : Bahrain tomorrow marks World No Tobacco Day, observed annually on May 31.
The day aims to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use, in line with the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) ongoing call for effective community efforts and partnerships to support plans, policies, and actions against smoking.
Bahrain’s health sector has achieved significant progress in this area as part of its goal to provide universal health coverage. The Ministry of Health has implemented various preventive measures in line with anti-tobacco agreements, focusing on the health of young people as future contributors to development.
The National Anti-Tobacco Committee plays a vital role in developing plans and initiatives to promote community partnerships and raise awareness about the risks of smoking. It works to educate the public on the benefits of quitting and to combat smoking through all possible means to protect public health in Bahrain.
