Plasma treatment of cases that have recovered from the virus has proven effective in transmitting immunity to face the virus in existing cases.
This was told in the press conference conducted by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
“Directed by His Excellency Team Doctor Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Chairman of the National Medical Team, and under the supervision of His Excellency Major General Professor Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services, we will start in clinical trials”, said the Member of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19), Lieutenant-Colonel Dr. Manaf Al Qahtani.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain continues its efforts to develop its treatment protocol in line with the developments of the virus and the developments of country experiences” he added.
Clinical trials will include 20 cases in isolation and treatment centers for the transfer of antibodies directed against the virus from the blood plasma of those recovered to them to benefit from “recovery plasma”.
