New York : Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, held a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of her participation in the ministerial segment of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2026), held in New York, and coinciding with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presentation of its Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) on progress made in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The meetings aimed at strengthening international cooperation, exchanging best practices and expertise in the field of sustainable development, and exploring opportunities to enhance collaboration with international organizations and regional countries.
The Minister held meetings with Ministers from the Arab Region, including Faisal bin Fadel Alibrahim Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ahmed Rostom Minister of Planning and Economic Development of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Dr. Paul Morcos, Minister of Information of the Republic of Lebanon.
The meetings highlighted opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest and provided an opportunity to exchange expertise in support of sustainable development efforts. The Minister also congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt on presenting their Voluntary National Reviews on progress made in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, commending the national achievements and initiatives showcased in advancing the 2030 Agenda.
As part of the meetings with United Nations officials, Alkhulaif met with Li Junhua, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs and Dr. Rania Al Mashat, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The meetings highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation with United Nations organizations and promoting multilateral collaboration to leverage international expertise and best practices to support the implementation of the sustainable development goals.
On their end, the ministers and senior officials praised the Kingdom of Bahrain’s development achievements and the tangible progress highlighted in the Kingdom’s Third Voluntary National Review in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
