Manama : The Kingdom of Bahrain announced USD 3.89 billion in investments through four major projects granted Golden Licences, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global destination for high-value investment.
The projects span various economic sectors, including aviation logistics, real estate and technology, and are expected to contribute to economic diversification and long-term growth in Bahrain.

The announcement was made at the fourth edition of Gateway Gulf 2026, which began on Sunday and runs for two days at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, organised by the Bahrain Economic Development Board. The forum attracted more than 200 ministers, senior government officials, chief executives and investors from around the world to explore high-value investment opportunities and partnerships across the Gulf.
The four projects granted Golden Licences are:
– DHL plans to establish its first and only regional maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Bahrain International Airport, reinforcing its commitment to its regional operations hub in Bahrain for the Middle East and North Africa. The facility will support its growing fleet and expand its operational capacity for global operations from the Kingdom.

– Capital A, the parent company of AirAsia, plans to lead three major aviation projects aimed at enhancing air connectivity with the Far East and Europe, expanding air cargo capacity through phased growth in freight operations, and developing local aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities, reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a regional aviation hub.
– Meliá, in partnership with Infracorp, plans to develop a landmark waterfront real estate project in the Amwaj Islands, featuring a five-star hotel and Meliá-branded residences. The project will contribute to enhancing Bahrain’s premium tourism and modern lifestyle offerings.
– Digital City Bahrain aims to establish a next-generation hub for information and communications technology, innovation and education, supported by world-class infrastructure. It is designed to attract technology companies and develop specialised clusters within an integrated ecosystem, accelerate sector growth and contribute to the development of Bahrain’s digital ecosystem.

The Team Bahrain approach is a key part of the Kingdom’s investment environment, representing a distinctive model of public-private partnership that brings government entities and the business sector together to create conditions for investment and business to thrive.
The Bahrain Economic Development Board plays a central role in this ecosystem by connecting investors with government entities and helping turn investment opportunities into long-term economic growth.
This collaborative approach is underpinned by Bahrain’s continued investment in digital transformation, advanced regulatory frameworks and preparing talent for future needs, alongside a diversified economy in which non-oil activities account for around 86% of GDP, providing a strong and resilient foundation for sustainable growth.
