New York : The Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the voting session of the UN Security Council, which unanimously adopted Resolution No. 2824, which requires the renewal of the mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Syrian Golan for an additional six months, until December 31, 2026. The resolution also requested the Secretary-General of the United Nations to ensure the availability of the necessary capabilities and resources for the mission to perform its tasks safely and securely.
The Kingdom of Bahrain’s position in support of renewing the force’s mandate came as an expression of the Kingdom’s support for the pivotal role played by the force by monitoring the ceasefire in the Golan Heights and monitoring the implementation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, and in appreciation of the responsibility undertaken by the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic in ensuring its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, while affirming that the Golan is Syrian Arab land under international law and UN resolutions.
