Berlin : Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the Berlin Aviation Summit 2026 and the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA Berlin) 2026, where he highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts to advance its aviation sector through technology, digital transformation, and innovation.
The minister said Bahrain continues to implement its strategic vision to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the aviation sector and strengthen its position as a trusted partner and regional hub for transport and logistics services.

During a keynote address at the summit, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed said Bahrain’s National Aviation Strategy focuses on developing an integrated aviation ecosystem that supports global connectivity, accelerates procedures, and improves operational efficiency. He highlighted the Kingdom’s progress in digitising aviation services and procedures, which has contributed to faster aircraft registration and air operator certification processes and supported investment in aviation, logistics, and maintenance services.
The minister also highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to strengthen its position as a regional hub for air transport, air cargo, and smart logistics solutions. He noted the signing of an agreement between DHL and Bahrain Airport Company to establish the largest modern aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul hangar in the Middle East at Bahrain International Airport, as well as cooperation with AirAsia to position Bahrain as a regional hub for the company’s Middle East operations.

On the sidelines of the event, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed held meetings with government officials, international organisation leaders, and representatives of global aviation companies to discuss opportunities for cooperation and partnership. He also met Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), to review developments in the global civil aviation sector and discuss cooperation in aviation safety, security, and sustainability.
The participation forms part of Bahrain’s efforts to strengthen its international presence, expand strategic partnerships, and support the development of the transport and aviation sectors.
