Geneva : The World Health Organization (WHO) today declared an international public health emergency over the outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
The organisation said the spread of the disease caused by the Bundibugyo strain does not meet the criteria to be classified as a pandemic, noting that the declaration aims to place neighbouring countries on maximum alert and mobilise support from the international community.
