Manama : The Social Insurance Organisation (SIO), in coordination with the Ministry of Labour, is taking the necessary measures to pay April salaries for Bahraini employees insured in private sector establishments, said, Sahar Rashed Al Mannai, SIO Chief Executive Officer.
This comes following the approval by the legislative authority of a law amending Decree-Law No. (78) of 2006 on unemployment insurance, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the payment of these salaries from the Unemployment Insurance Fund, in support of the private sector, preservation of national workforce, and continuity of economic activity.
The SIO Chief Executive affirmed that the step would contribute to labour market stability and reinforce comprehensive social protection for Bahraini employees in the private sector.
Al Mannai said employers wishing to benefit from the initiative can register via the SIO website (www.sio.gov.bh) no later than April 28, to ensure all eligible beneficiaries are covered.
She explained that salary payments will be processed based on insurance data recorded in April 2026. Employers will continue to pay salaries to employees through the standard procedures, while the SIO will transfer the amounts to establishments on April 30, following the deduction of applicable monthly contributions, within the insured wage ceiling and in line with approved regulations.
Al Mannai added that registration requires the employer’s approved SIO username and completion of verification via a one-time password (OTP) sent to registered contact details. Employers may also review, confirm, or update the bank account (IBAN), provided that it is linked to the commercial registration or the business owner, with a bank-issued certificate required when submitting new details.
