Dhaka : A massive fire broke out at the cargo terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, forcing the suspension of all departing flights, airport officials said.
Talha bin Zasim, an officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Media Cell, said 36 firefighting units were working to extinguish the blaze. An airport official confirmed that all aircraft were safe and that operations had been postponed until the fire was fully brought under control.
It was the third major fire in Bangladesh in recent days, following a chemical warehouse blaze on Tuesday that killed 16 people and another that destroyed a garment factory in the coastal city of Chittagong.
