Manama : The final of the Khalid bin Hamad Handball League was held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC). The match, played between Al Ahli Club and Barbar Club at Khalifa Sports City Hall in Isa Town, ended with Barbar winning the title after a 28–26 victory.
His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the GSA, presented the league trophy to Barbar’s first handball team, securing the club’s seventh league title. Al Ahli received the silver medal and finished as runners-up.
The match was attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the BOC; Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Chief Executive Officer of the GSA; Bader Mohammed Al Theyab, President of the Asian Handball Federation; and Ali Isa Eshaqi, President of the Bahrain Handball Federation.
HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed expressed his appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for his continued support of the sports sector, particularly handball. His highness said this support had contributed to the sport’s achievements and progress at various levels.
HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed commended the high standard of the final, noting that it reflected the continued development of Bahraini handball and its achievements in recent years. His Highness also commended the strong performances delivered by both teams throughout the match.
HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed also commended the efforts of the Bahrain Handball Federation in developing the sport and enhancing its technical and organisational standards, wishing the association continued success in implementing its programmes and plans.
HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed congratulated Barbar on winning the league title and praised the team’s performances throughout the season. He also congratulated Al Ahli on its performance during the competition and wished all clubs continued success.
