Bangkok : Thailand’s parliament elected Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, as Prime Minister.
In the parliamentary vote, Anutin won 311 votes out of 490, defeating Chaikasem Nitisiri of the Pheu Thai Party, who received 152 votes. Meanwhile, 27 lawmakers abstained.
With this result, Anutin secured victory in Thailand’s first parliamentary vote to select a prime minister since 2019.
