Manama : Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfeeqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, attended the launch of “Al Freej” (Neighbourhood) Festival, organised by the ministry at the Northern Sehla Youth Empowerment Centre in cooperation with Mawrooth Committee.
The festival brings together Bahraini heritage, culture, creativity and technology through activities for young people, children and families.
The minister toured the festival, which features traditional games, crafts and professions, technology and space activities, arts and theatre, esports and sports activities. It also includes a youth market for young people to showcase their projects and products, a mental health section and participation by productive families.
Tawfeeqi said the festival reflects the ministry’s approach to bringing youth activities into local communities and providing spaces for young people to showcase their talents, develop their ideas and lead community activities.
She said the combination of heritage, arts, technology, sports and youth projects provides experiences for different segments of the community while connecting Bahrain’s cultural heritage with young people’s interests and aspirations.
The festival targets young people aged 15 to 35, as well as children and families, and aims to expand youth participation in their neighbourhoods and communities and support youth led community initiatives.
