Dubai : His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of the “1 billion Meals Dates Factory”, the world’s largest endowment-based dates factory, with an annual production capacity of 150 million food units dedicated entirely to supporting underprivileged communities worldwide.
The project was launched in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates.
The factory represents a key sustainable investment by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and aims to provide a food safety net and contribute to global efforts to combat hunger.
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid affirmed that the project reflects the UAE’s humanitarian mission to support those in need and its commitment to safeguarding human dignity and ensuring a decent standard of living.
The factory will be developed in Margham, Dubai, at a cost of AED 200 million, funded by businessman Mirwais Azizi, and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. It will rely entirely on locally sourced dates fortified with vitamins and minerals to enhance nutritional value.
