Geneva : Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, held a series of bilateral meetings with ministers, senior officials, and representatives of international organisations on the sidelines of Geneva Digital Week.
The events included the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, the WSIS+20 High-Level Event, and the AI for Good Global Summit.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed met with Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and officials from the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Ireland, Estonia, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Gabon, the United States, South Africa, Malaysia, the Digital Cooperation Organisation, and Smart Africa.
The meetings discussed means to enhance cooperation in digital transformation, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and capacity building, in addition to exchanging expertise and best practices in developing digital policies to support sustainable development and strengthen the digital economy.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed also reviewed Bahrain’s key achievements in digital transformation and telecommunications infrastructure, including its efforts to adopt emerging technologies and develop a regulatory and legislative environment that supports innovation and investment, accelerates the adoption of artificial intelligence applications, and enhances the Kingdom’s regional and international competitiveness.
