Manama : The Indian Club’s annual Pageant, May Queen concluded on Friday, 31st May 2024.
Talent & Casual round held on 17th May, the National costume round was held on 23rd May, and Grand finale was held on 31st May.
A total number of 25 beautiful women contested for the coveted crown. This year the Pageant was organised in three phases. The Indian Club Pageant is organised every year & dates back to more than 6 decades. The event attracted more than 2000 audience.
First time they witnessed huge participation of women, as the traditional age barrier was knocked off, allowing girls from 16yrs onwards. Womanhood was the theme, which encouraged women from different walks of life regardless of their profession.
This speculator event was Title Sponsored by BFC, in association with African Eastern and powered by MediaPro International; Fashion Partner Diva (Chennai India), R&B and H&H, Entertainment Partner Gulf Good News – GGN, Travel Partner Al Murshed Travel & Tourism and Restaurant Partner Barani Restaurant.
Event was organised under the patronage of The Chief Guest Brigadier Mohammad Husseini, H.E. Mrs. H.M.G.R.R.K Wijerathne Mendis – Ambassador of Sri Lanka and Dr. Asha Biju (Managing Director of Wow Factor MediCosmetic Skin & Laser Centre, Trivandrum, India) attended as a Guest of honour. Miss Universe Lujaine Yacoub also grace the event as Guest of honour.
Cultural dances, hip hop dances & so on. A complete family entertainment was organised.
The Choreographer Karun Raman has done a wonderful job by imparting positive thoughts to the contestants during their grooming sessions.
The show was controlled by professional MC Ms. Ritu Ann Roy, with the stage set-up, light and sound being provided by MediaPro International.
Besides the top 3 winners, another 12 individual prizes were awarded to the participants.
Overall, the Event was a huge success, led by the Event Director Madam Tina Mathew & Co-Directors Ameena Rehman & Sunita David.
2 judges were specially flown in from the United Arab Emirates (both former models). The third judge was from Bahrain.
It was very unfortunate for Mary Annin Jacob, who was crowned Queen that evening. Reports coming in that same day showed concerns from the judging panel to look into the final results once again.
Upon scrutinizing, it was found that an error had been detected in tabulation; which was further brought to the Executive board’s attention.
The board unanimously decided to go with the truth instead of covering up the error.
Upon discovering the error, the crowned Queen was notified of the same to which she was not willing to co-operate.
The Executive Committee after fact finding decided to rectify the error & along with the consent of the event Directors, decided to recall top 3 & accordingly reversed the original decision.
It takes a lot of guts & courage to go back & correct the wrong, knowing the repercussions.
The Indian Club officials sincerely thanked the respective ministries for giving support & permission for conducting the event.
