Manama : The Ministry of Social Development has launched its summer programme for people of determination in partnership with several civil society organisations, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance services for people of determination, develop their skills, and provide meaningful activities during the summer holiday that promote their inclusion and active participation in society.
Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the National Committee for the Care of the Affairs of People of Determination, said the programme reflects the ministry’s commitment to delivering high-quality initiatives that empower people of determination, develop their capabilities and skills, and support the national goals of promoting social inclusion, equal opportunities and effective partnerships with civil society organisations.
He also highlighted the ministry’s continued support for initiatives that enhance the quality of services for people of determination, commending the contributions of partner organisations in implementing programmes and activities tailored for this group. He noted that these partnerships reflect the integration of national efforts and contribute to achieving a sustainable positive impact on participants and their families.
The programme is being implemented in cooperation with the Bahrain Society for Parents and Friends of the Disabled, the Friendship Society for the Blind, the Bahrain Society for Child Development, the Bahrain Deaf Society, the Bahrain Autism Society, the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties, the Child and Mother Welfare Society, and the Bahrain Motivators Society for People with Disabilities.
It offers a comprehensive range of activities, including cultural programmes, field trips and visits, life skills and independent living programmes, vocational preparation activities, recreational and social events, as well as awareness and training programmes designed to develop participants’ personal and social skills in an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Registration is open to all age groups from July 5, and will remain available until programme capacity is reached. Parents are encouraged to register through the ministry’s official social media accounts (@mosdbahrain) to benefit from the range of programmes and activities designed to meet participants’ varying needs and abilities.
The initiative forms part of the Ministry of Social Development’s plans to further develop services for people of determination and strengthen partnerships with civil society organisations as key contributors to sustainable social development, while ensuring equal opportunities for participation, creativity and contribution to the Kingdom’s comprehensive development.
