Manama : Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, said that the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, observed annually on January 28, represents a global occasion to renew commitment to human values based on tolerance, mutual respect, and the promotion of understanding among societies.
The minister noted that the international designation of the day stemmed from a Bahraini initiative launched by the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance, reflecting the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s consistent approach to entrenching the principles of tolerance and coexistence as foundations for societal stability and sustainable development.
Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi emphasised that Bahrain has, throughout its history, advanced a model based on pluralism, tolerance, and openness, reflecting the role of coexistence in supporting social and humanitarian development. He reiterated that the Ministry of Social Development continues, in cooperation with relevant entities, to implement programmes and initiatives aimed at strengthening social cohesion and reinforcing the values of coexistence, solidarity, and mutual support.
