Manama : Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, commended the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of Bahrain’s initiative to establish January 28 as the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence.
He noted that this achievement reflects Bahrain’s leadership in promoting global peace, tolerance, and coexistence under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al Alawi described the initiative as an important step toward sustainable peace, conflict prevention, and fostering a shared vision for coexistence through education, dialogue, and community engagement at national and international levels.
He emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to interfaith and intercultural dialogue, recognising cultural and social diversity as a strength for building stable and prosperous societies.
He commended the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence for spearheading the initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leading to global consensus on the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence. He noted that this day would serve as an opportunity to strengthen international understanding, human connections, and global peace.
The minister underscored the Ministry of Social Development’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, tolerance, and mutual respect as essential foundations for cohesive and sustainable societies.
He noted the importance of fostering dialogue, raising awareness of coexistence, and working towards a more stable and prosperous future for all.
