Istanbul : Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, held talks with Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), taking place in Istanbul from April 15 to 19.
Speaker Al Musallam affirmed that the relations and partnerships between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Türkiye are based on shared visions and unified positions to support security, peace, and stability, and to address crises that undermine development and progress.

The Speaker commended Türkiye’s stance in condemning the Iranian attacks on GCC countries, describing them as a serious threat to regional security and stability, and noted that Bahrain has been subjected to attacks targeting civilian sites, vital facilities, and residential areas.
He added that Bahrain has intercepted 96% of the attacks through the Bahrain Defence Force, the National Guard, and the Ministry of Interior, reflecting the Kingdom’s high level of readiness and defence capabilities.
Speaker Al Musallam also commended the efforts of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, in coordination with the Inter-Parliamentary Union, to ensure the success of the 152nd Assembly.

On his part, Kurtulmus affirmed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations across various domains and enhancing parliamentary coordination and the exchange of legislative expertise to support cooperation between the two countries.
He reiterated Türkiye’s rejection of the Iranian attacks on Bahrain and countries in the region, expressing hope that the efforts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan will contribute to ending the conflicts, and affirmed that they stand with Bahrain in addressing the threats it faces.
Kurtulmus underscored the importance of supporting security and stability in the Middle East and promoting efforts to achieve peace and resolve conflicts through peaceful means.
