Manama : His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, affirmed that young people do not wait for others to chart their path, but look to those who believe in their ability to forge their own future.
In a statement marking International Youth Day, observed on August 12, His Highness stressed that trust in young people is the foundation for future achievements, noting that nations that empower their youth to take the initiative build stronger and more sustainable futures.
His Highness said that, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Kingdom of Bahrain chose years ago to make young people partners in decision-making and in shaping the future, rather than mere recipients of its outcomes, through a national approach centred on nurturing talent.
He added that this approach has received the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, strengthening the integration of national efforts to create an environment that enables young people to participate, assume responsibility and contribute to various development paths.
His Highness affirmed that genuine investment in young people means ensuring that they feel heard, that their ideas are valued, and that the responsibilities entrusted to them are commensurate with the opportunities available to them. He noted that the trust placed in young people by their countries serves as a driving force for initiative and achievement.
HH Shaikh Nasser stressed that the future requires young people who are able to learn continuously and make effective use of modern technologies while remaining grounded in the authentic values that underpin the Bahraini character.
His Highness noted that the ambition, competence and determination of Bahraini youth represent a renewable national asset for the future, stressing that the responsibility of institutions extends beyond developing programmes to creating an environment that encourages young people to think, experiment and assume responsibility.
HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed that nations advance when they empower their youth to become part of the solution.
His Highness congratulated Bahraini youth on International Youth Day, expressing confidence in their ability to achieve great accomplishments.
