Makkah : The Muslim World League (MWL) welcomed the statement issued by members of the UN Security Council on August 7, condemning attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and commercial vessels.
In a statement issued by the MWL General Secretariat, Secretary General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al Issa, commended the statement’s emphasis on the need to comply with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, and to respect the sovereignty, unity, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen, while rejecting acts that threaten regional security and maritime navigation.
On behalf of the MWL’s global academies, bodies and councils, as well as all Muslim peoples under its umbrella, Sheikh Dr. Al Issa reaffirmed full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to deter aggressors and safeguard its security and sovereignty, as well as the safety of its citizens and residents.
He also reaffirmed full solidarity with and support for the efforts of the legitimate Yemeni government and all international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability for Yemen and its people.
