Manila : At least 15 people were killed and six others remain missing after landslides triggered by heavy rainfall associated with Typhoon Bavi in the Philippines.
Philippine police said the intense rainfall caused widespread landslides in the southern parts of the country, noting that rescue teams continue search operations for the missing despite difficult weather conditions.
Typhoon Bavi, which earlier swept across several Pacific islands, is forecast to move towards northern and eastern Taiwan on Friday and Saturday before affecting Japan’s southern islands and later heading towards the Chinese coast.
