Manama : His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, at Riffa Palace.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister commended the efforts of HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman, noting their significant contribution to the success of the Afforestation Plan and the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative.
His Royal Highness also commended HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman’s continuous follow-up across all aspects of the Initiative, reflecting the spirit of Team Bahrain.
His Royal Highness noted the significant progress of His Highness’ initiatives which have exceeded the targets set for environmental plans and initiatives, supporting the Kingdom’s comprehensive development, and enhancing environmental security, in line with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister was briefed on the progress to date of the Afforestation Plan and the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative. The briefing noted strong progress under the Afforestation Plan, with 2.45 million trees planted, reaching 68% of the 2035 target, while mangrove planting has already exceeded its target at 139%, with 2.23 million seedlings planted.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad also expressed appreciation to all those involved in implementing the Afforestation Plan and the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative for their dedication and efforts in advancing environmental projects and achieving their intended objectives.
His Royal Highness also commended Bahrain’s achievements in agricultural innovation and excellence. These included winning the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation and the Arab Government Excellence Award, as well as the recognition of four Bahraini villages under the FAO initiative honouring agricultural villages.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the importance of continuing to adopt and implement sustainable initiatives that enhance performance indicators in the Kingdom’s agricultural sector, contributing to environmental preservation and the protection of natural resources.
For his part, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman commended the royal patronage and support extended to environmental and agricultural plans and programmes by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. His Highness noted that His Majesty’s directives are critical to advancing the Kingdom’s sustainable development, preserving natural resources, and strengthening environmental security in the Kingdom.
His Highness also expressed his gratitude for HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s unwavering support and pioneering developmental vision, which have contributed to advancing the agricultural and environmental sector.
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman went on to commend His Royal Highness’s diligent follow-up in strengthening national initiatives and advancing environmental sustainability through forward-looking visions that support Bahrain’s progress.
His Highness also expressed his appreciation for the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), and Chair of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development, for the agricultural and environmental initiatives and national programmes aimed at expanding green spaces and reinforcing the concepts of agricultural sustainability. HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman noted that these efforts reflect Her Royal Highness’s vision and commitment to supporting development initiatives that contribute to environmental preservation, enhanced food security, and sustainable development.
His Highness affirmed that the indicators achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Afforestation Plan and the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative, as well as the prestigious international and regional awards they have received, reflect His Royal Highness’ support.
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman noted that HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s directives are a source of inspiration to continue launching innovative initiatives and enhancing environmental and agricultural work paths to achieve more growth and prosperity for the Kingdom of Bahrain.
HE Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and HE Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, also attended the meeting.
