Manama : The Head of the Terrorism Crimes Prosecution announced that the High Criminal Court today sentenced two defendants convicted of committing acts of violence and sabotage during the Iranian attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain in March.
The court sentenced both defendants to three years’ imprisonment, ordered them to pay compensation for the damage caused, and ordered the confiscation of the seized items.
The Head of the Terrorism Crimes Prosecution said the case originated from a report submitted by the relevant security authority at the Ministry of Interior after the defendants were apprehended in the act at the scene for participating in acts of violence and sabotage during the Iranian attacks. They were subsequently referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Public Prosecution launched investigations immediately upon receiving the report, questioned the defendants, and heard witness testimony that confirmed the offences attributed to them. It then ordered their pretrial detention and referred them to the High Criminal Court, which heard the case over several hearings during which all legal guarantees, foremost among them the defendants’ right to defence, were upheld before handing down its judgment.
The Public Prosecution emphasised that it will not hesitate to take deterrent legal measures against those who commit acts that undermine public security or endanger the security, stability and safety of the community. It underscored its commitment to confronting all forms of violence and sabotage in accordance with the law to protect the security and stability of society.
