Manama : Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah bin Isa Al Khalifa, Consort of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Education Charitable Trust and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), today inaugurated the Annual Flower and Vegetable Show 2024, organised by the Bahrain Garden Club (BGC), at the Awal Ballroom in the Gulf Hotel Bahrain.
HH Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah affirmed that the agriculture sector in the Kingdom continues to thrive with the steadfast support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Their support has strengthened initiatives aimed at advancing the sector and bolstering the Kingdom’s food security, she pointed.
HH Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah highlighted the efforts and contributions of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), and Chair of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development, in strengthening the agriculture sector. HH Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah noted initiatives and projects adopted to enhance Bahraini agriculture, positioning it as a key sector for economic diversification in the Kingdom.
HH Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah noted the importance of enhancing local agricultural production to ensure self-sufficiency and food security in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
HH Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah outlined the importance of the Annual Flower and Vegetable Competition as a platform for sharing expertise, fostering creativity, and driving innovation in agriculture production.
HH Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah commended the efforts of the organisers of the event and wished them success in future events.

The establishment of the BGC in 1965 aimed to educate citizens about the importance of agriculture and preserving the Kingdom’s horticulture heritage. It also encourages citizens to plant trees to enhance the Kingdom’s aesthetics. Furthermore, the club is dedicated to promoting the adoption of modern irrigation systems and reducing water wastage among residents and citizens.
The BGC hosts the annual competition aimed at engaging students, amateurs, and professionals to further the club’s obectives.
