Manama : His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa chaired today a meeting on the latest developments of the Bahrain Mangroves initiative, at Riffa Palace.
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to preserving and enhancing environmental security and combating climate change by implementing various programmes and initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality, in line with the National Action Plan.
The carbon neutrality initiative was announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The meeting discussed goals and plans related to the planting of mangroves for 2025, noting the importance of harnessing all national efforts to tackle climate change and quadruple the mangroves coverage by 2035.
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman noted the tireless efforts of the Supreme Council for Environment, headed by its President, the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King, His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and all relevant authorities in implementing related plans and initiatives, including the “Bahrain Mangroves” initiative, which contributes to achieving Bahrain’s carbon neutrality by 2060.
His Highness emphasised the prominent role of community partnership in supporting the Kingdom’s environmental goals, noting the importance of raising environmental awareness in line with best practices, and expanding green spaces across Bahrain. In this regard, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman noted the importance of environmental conservation to achieve a sustainable future for future generations.
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman concluded by wishing everyone continued success in achieving the desired environmental goals.
