Manama : GOPIO (Global Organization of People of Indian Origin) Bahrain successfully hosted a distinctive event that creatively blended community celebration with crucial health awareness. The #GOPIOPinkPower Breast Cancer and Mental Health Awareness Event, held in association with American Mission Hospital at the Aura Arts Centre on October 17, drew over a huge crowd for an impactful evening.
Moving beyond traditional seminars, GOPIO Bahrain organized the event as a merged experience, combining essential awareness sessions with a lively mini-fair (mela) and fun activities to encourage community engagement. The unique approach aimed to bring people together to celebrate life while raising awareness for two vital causes, breast cancer and mental health.

The event was graced by Guest of Honour Mrs. Bharati Rakesh, a cancer warrior, whose presence served as an inspiration to all attendees.

The event’s awareness segment featured top-tier experts. Senior Gynecologist Dr. Bhanu Vasudevan led comprehensive sessions on breast cancer awareness, stressing the importance of early detection. In a bid to promote holistic health, GOPIO Bahrain Health Council Head Dr. Anina Mariam Varghese conducted sessions on the significance of Homeopathy. Recognising the interlinked nature of physical and mental well-being, Mental Health Counsellor Ms. Swati Snap led a session focused on mental health awareness.

The atmosphere was uplifted with energy thanks to a dynamic Zumba session conducted by Ms. Krishina Priya from Aura Arts, seamlessly integrating physical activity into the awareness drive. The evening’s flow was expertly guided by Toastmaster Ms. Fareed, who served as the master of ceremony.

The highlight of the event was the vibrant mini-fair, which merged different GOPIO councils and provided a platform for small-scale business vendors. Attendees browsed and purchased handmade items including crafts, jewellery, and food, alongside services like henna and face painting.
GOPIO Bahrain President Mrs. Tina Mathew emphasized the dual purpose of the initiative, stating, “It is crucial that we come together as a community to raise awareness while also actively supporting our small local businesses.” GOPIO Vice President Mr. Samuel Paul commended the gathering as being “both fun and informative.”

Attendees got free check up breast cancer from AMH and they also received goodies from Al Ajuan and cash vouchers from Zaja Saloon. Radio Suno served as the event’s official radio partner.
GOPIO Bahrain committee members expressed their deep gratitude to all for making the evening a beautiful and impactful success, setting a new standard for community focused awareness campaigns.
