Prague : Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), underscored the GCC member states’ commitment to enhancing global security, stability, development, and prosperity in cooperation with regional and international partners amid rapid geopolitical developments and growing security and economic challenges.
Speaking during a panel session on GCC-European strategic relations at the GLOBSEC Global Security Forum 2026 in Prague, Albudaiwi said the GCC General Secretariat’s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening communication and exchanging views with international partners, decision-makers, and experts in support of regional and international security.
He noted that the GCC states continue diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote dialogue to safeguard regional security and stability.
Albudaiwi highlighted the importance of protecting air and maritime corridors, ensuring freedom of navigation, safeguarding supply chains, and maintaining the stability of global energy markets, stressing that stability in the Gulf region remains fundamental for the global economy and international maritime security.
He also noted that recent developments have demonstrated the growing interconnection between the security of Europe and the Middle East, stressing that stability in the Gulf has become a shared international interest.
Albudaiwi highlighted the strategic partnership between the GCC and the European Union (EU), expressing hope that the upcoming GCC-EU Summit will further strengthen cooperation and deliver tangible outcomes that serve the mutual interests of both sides.
