Manama : The inaugural Bahrain Cardiovascular Conference 2026, organised by Royal Medical Services (RMS) in cooperation with BDA Centre, began at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The conference runs from September 11 to 12.
Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), and Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, along with leading doctors, consultants and cardiovascular specialists from Bahrain and other countries, were present.
The conference supports the development of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s healthcare sector, promotes continuing medical education and keeps healthcare professionals up to date with the latest developments in cardiovascular medicine. It also provides a platform for specialists to exchange expertise and discuss key challenges and clinical cases faced by healthcare professionals at different levels of care.
Shaikh Fahad bin Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa highlighted the importance of the first Bahrain Cardiovascular Conference, describing it as a specialised scientific platform that strengthens communication between doctors, consultants and specialists and supports the exchange of medical expertise and experience, helping improve clinical practice and healthcare services for patients.
Shaikh Fahad bin Salman commended RMS and BDA Centre for organising the conference and noted the strong participation of specialised medical professionals. He said such events help healthcare professionals keep pace with rapid developments in cardiovascular medicine and benefit from local and international expertise.
Shaikh Fahad bin Salman also highlighted the conference’s varied scientific programme, which focuses on practical approaches to diagnosing and treating heart disease, as well as clinical cases and challenges that require accurate assessment and timely medical decisions. He expressed hope that the conference would add value to Bahrain’s specialised medical events and continue to grow and succeed in future editions.
Major General Dr. Fuad Abdulqader, Chief Executive Officer and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre, welcomed participants and guests. He emphasised the importance of the conference in strengthening scientific communication among healthcare professionals and sharing expertise and medical practices in cardiovascular medicine.
For his part, Dr. Husam Noor, Conference Chairman, Chief of Medical Staff-Clinical Services, Chief of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre, said the scientific programme was designed around the challenges doctors face in daily practice. It includes real-life cases and discussions on issues requiring accurate diagnosis and rapid decision-making.
He said the first edition focuses on practical, applicable scientific content, with opportunities for direct discussion and the exchange of views on common issues faced by doctors, allowing participants to benefit from a wide range of expertise.
Dr. Nooraldaem Yousif, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre, chairs the conference’s scientific committee, which includes consultants and specialists from several healthcare institutions in Bahrain.
Over two days, the scientific programme covers key cardiovascular topics, including ECGs, the latest approaches to lowering cholesterol, modern cardiac tests, heart attacks, pulmonary embolism, aortic valve stenosis and catheter-based treatment options. It also covers cardio-oncology, heart disease during pregnancy, adult congenital heart disease, hypertension, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias.
The conference also addresses advanced topics including atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, syncope, pre-operative cardiac assessment, infective endocarditis, aortic aneurysms, the latest approaches to managing lipids and heart failure, and the use of advanced imaging techniques in cardiac catheterisation procedures.
The conference is aimed at everyone involved in cardiac care, from medical students, general practitioners, emergency doctors and internists to cardiologists and specialists, supporting professional communication and knowledge-sharing across medical disciplines and levels of care.
The second day features interactive sessions combining knowledge and practical application, including a cardiology challenge and discussion sessions focusing on practical aspects of diagnosis and treatment.
Participants will receive 12 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits, supporting the ongoing professional development of medical and healthcare staff.
