Washington : Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, meeting with His Excellency Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa conveyed greetings from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with their best wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Switzerland. The meeting also reviewed bilateral cooperation and means to further develop it in line with the interests of both countries.
The Finance Minister affirmed the longstanding relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Switzerland, noting continued efforts to advance them across various sectors, particularly in the economic and financial domains, in line with shared goals and aspirations.

An agreement on promotion and protection of investments was signed between the Government of Bahrain and the Swiss Federal Council. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, signed on behalf of Bahrain, and His Excellency Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, signed on behalf of Switzerland.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa said that the agreement opens wider opportunities for high-quality partnerships, noting that it provides a comprehensive legal framework ensuring fair and equitable treatment and protection of investments, thereby enhancing Bahrain’s business environment and strengthening its position as a regional investment hub.
The agreement aims to encourage investment between the two sides by providing a comprehensive legal framework protecting investments against non-commercial risks and ensuring the free transfer of investment-related payments, while also promoting corporate social responsibility standards, thereby attracting further high-quality investments and supporting sustainable national economic growth.
The meeting attended by Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of Bahrain to the US, and Khalid Ebrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain.
