Dubai : Dubai Municipality has launched the second edition of the Hatta Farming Festival as part of the ‘Dubai Farms’ programme, led by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.
The festival, running from January 18-22 at Leem Lake, features 25 Emirati farmers, homesteaders, and agricultural companies, showcasing products, fostering collaboration, and supporting the UAE’s agricultural market.
Held under the Hatta Winter initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the event invites residents and visitors to explore Hatta’s unique offerings during the cooler months. It aims to position Hatta as a leading agri-tourism destination, supporting sustainable farming and promoting its role in Dubai’s development vision.
The festival aligns with the Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan and aims to boost economic and tourism opportunities.
Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dhahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to sustainable national food security, emphasising initiatives like the ‘Plant the Emirates National Programme.’
Dubai Municipality provides significant support to Hatta farmers, including fertilisers, seeds, pest control resources, and training in modern farming methods.
This year’s festival features exhibitions of agricultural and livestock products, workshops, and expert discussions. Visitors can learn about modern farming techniques, hear success stories, and attend livestock auctions.
Awards will be presented to outstanding farmers, along with guidance on sustainable practices.
