BSA opens registration for NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026

Manama : The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) has announced the opening of registration for the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026, marking the eighth consecutive edition hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
 
The hackathon will be held on November 14 and 15, organised by the BSA under the supervision of NASA and in cooperation with several academic institutions in Bahrain.
 
It will take place simultaneously at three locations: University of Bahrain – Sakhir Campus, Bahrain Polytechnic – Isa Town, and Kingdom University – Riffa. Participants will select their preferred location upon registration.
 
The hackathon is one of the world’s largest specialised events in space and technology, bringing together participants from various disciplines to work in multidisciplinary teams and develop innovative solutions to the challenges presented, using open data, technologies and resources provided by NASA.
 
Participants will develop their projects over 48 hours in an experience combining space, science, programming, engineering, design, entrepreneurship and other fields.
 
The BSA invited individuals interested in space, innovation, and technology from various disciplines and age groups to register and take part in the global challenge, encouraging them to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges using space science and modern technologies. 
 
As part of preparations to host the new edition, the Agency held separate coordination meetings with the universities to follow up on organisational and logistical preparations and ensure the readiness of the venues and hosting requirements, providing a suitable environment for participants and ensuring the event is held to a high standard.
 
Participants will also compete for prizes, with the opportunity to qualify for NASA’s global awards for outstanding projects.
