New York : Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Telecommunications at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in Digital@UNGA 2026 in New York, held alongside the United Nations General Assembly and organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The event brought together senior officials, decision makers and representatives of governments, international organisations and the private sector to discuss telecommunications, digital transformation and emerging technologies.
The 2026 edition focused on three main areas: Innovation and future technologies, expanding digital inclusion and access, and international cooperation towards a shared digital future.
On the sidelines of the event, Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa held a series of bilateral meetings with officials to discuss means to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in telecommunications, digital transformation and digital innovation.
He met with Minna-Liina Lind, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly High Level Week. The meeting covered telecommunications and means to strengthen cooperation within relevant international organisations.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa also met with Adam Cassady, US Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy. They discussed issues of common interest and means to strengthen cooperation in telecommunications and digital policy.
