Manama : Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), announced that the airport received three awards at the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards, as passenger traffic returned to normal levels, while continuing to maintain high standards of service quality and operational efficiency.
BIA was named World’s Best Airport – 5–10 Million Passengers for the second consecutive year, Best Airport Staff in the Middle East for the fourth time, following previous wins in 2013, 2023 and 2024, and Cleanest Airport in the Middle East for the second consecutive year.
In the broader Skytrax results, BIA ranked 20th among the World’s Top 100 Airports, placing it among the three highest-ranked airports in the Middle East. It also ranked fourth among the world’s cleanest airports handling up to 30 million passengers annually.
Khalid Hussain Taqi, Gulf Air Group Chairman, said that Bahrain International Airport’s performance across the Skytrax awards and rankings reinforces BAC’s strategy to position the airport as a high-performing, passenger-focused gateway and a key enabler of the Kingdom’s connectivity with the world.
He added that by aligning service excellence, operational resilience and investment in people, the company is strengthening the airport’s competitiveness and supporting the continued advancement of Bahrain’s aviation sector.
Ahmed Mohamed Janahi, Chief Executive Officer of BAC, highlighted the efforts of the airport’s teams, in cooperation with strategic partners, during a period of changing passenger demand, noting that their high level of professionalism, teamwork and unwavering commitment to excellence, even under the most demanding circumstances, enabled the airport to maintain smooth operations and consistent service standards as passenger traffic returned to normal levels.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards are based on an annual global customer satisfaction survey evaluating the passenger experience across key airport services and facilities, including check-in, arrivals, transfers, security, immigration, shopping, food and beverage, and departure procedures at the gates.
