Bahrain : The Council of Representatives today held its second meeting of the fourth session of the Fifth Legislative Term, under the chairmanship of Speaker, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal. Srinagar : At least five Indian soldiers and two militants were killed on Monday in a series of gun battles in Indian Kashmir, where security forces have stepped up operations after several civilian killings last week, officials said. Santee, Calif : A twin-engine plane that killed at least two people and left a swath of destruction in a San Diego suburb nose-dived into the ground after repeated warnings that it was flying dangerously low, according to a recording. The Cessna 340 smashed into a UPS van, killing the driver, and then hit houses just after noon Monday in Santee, a suburb of 50,000 people. Bahrain : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today issued Royal Decree 102 of 2021, appointing Dr. Jawaher Shaheen Al-Mudhahki as President of the University of Bahrain (UoB) for a four-year term. Washington : A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Alaska early Monday in what the Alaska Earthquake Center called an aftershock of a 8.2 quake from late July. Monday’s earthquake was felt throughout the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island, according to the Alaska Earthquake Center. It occurred about 70 miles (115 kilometers) east of Chignik, a community of about 90 people on the Alaska Peninsula.
