The first two Air India repatriation flight carrying 177 passengers each from the UAE landed in Kochi and Kozhikode respectively. The flights are part of India’s massive operation to bring back some of the thousands of citizens stuck abroad due to coronavirus restrictions with passenger jets and naval ships. The first repatriation flight for Indian expatriates left from Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Terminal 3 to Kozhikode at 5.07 pm on Thursday evening. Many passengers reached to the airport as early as 10.30 am to catch the special flight of 4.15 pm to return home in an emergency. An inmate of the Central Jail in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra has tested positive for COVID-19. The Bahrain Ministry of Health has announced 138 new recoveries from COVID-19 and registered 197 new active cases of which 130 are expatriate workers and 67 are contacts of active cases. Bahrain tested a total of 164,517 until now. There are 2,125 active cases. These include 2,121 stable cases and 4 critical cases. 1,998 people have been discharged. A COVID-19 positive mother has given birth to a baby boy at Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai. Both the mother and baby are in stable condition, said the hospital in a statement on Thursday. The 3.18 kilogram baby boy was born to 25-year-old Indian mother on May 5. The mother was admitted to Al Zahra Hospital Dubai on May 2 with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis and 37 weeks pregnant. The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) on Thursday announced 502 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cases reported in the country to 16,240. MoHaP also announced the death of 8 people from COVID-19, taking the total death toll to 165. The MoHaP noted 33,000 tests had been conducted across the country.
