Oman will allow trucks weighing three tonnes and above to pass through checkpoints from one governorate to another without the use of a 24-hour transit permit. Movement between within the same governorate is permitted during the lockdown period (from 7 pm until 6 am) for water tanks and cooking gas trucks. OCCI warned that truck drivers must adhere to the precautionary procedures and should not visit any facilities during transit. They should interact with any people and return directly to the place of residence when the work is completed.
Eid prayers in Bahrain will be performed at home at 5:31 am on Friday, the Sunni Endowment Department has said. Mosques will proclaim the traditional Eid takbeers (praise to Allah) from 5:00 until 5:31 am. ♦ Prime Minister issues Eid Al Adha holidays circular The takbeers traditionally precede the prayers and sermons, but there will be no prayers. Bahrain had shut down mosques as part of the preventive measures to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus through congregations.
His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, issued a circular regarding Eid Al Adha holidays. The Kingdom’s ministries, directorates and official institutions will be closed from July 30 to August 2, including Arafat Day and Eid’s first, second and third days. The circular added, as Friday and Saturday, the official weekend in the Kingdom, fall within the holidays, Monday August 3 and Tuesday August 4 are given in lieu.
India’s Flipkart said on Tuesday it plans to offer 90-minute deliveries for groceries and home accessories, as the Walmart-owned online retailer goes head to head with Amazon in a key growth market for e-commerce. Flipkart said its hyperlocal service, dubbed Flipkart Quick, will also sell mobile phones and stationery items, taking it a step further than Amazon’s quick-delivery service that mainly offers just groceries. Flipkart Quick will debut in select locations in Bengaluru, the company said, without specifying a launch date. Malaysian YouTube channel ‘Sugu Pavithra’ which went viral for its easy cooking recipes has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in the past week. M Sugu who jointly ran the channel with his wife S Pavithra was recently accused of hitting his wife with a sickle in a case of domestic violence. Following the incident, Sugu has deleted all the 98 videos that had been uploaded to the channel, much to the dismay and outrage of fans. Director of Traffic Operations and Control, Col. Adel Al Dossairi reported 1511 violations in residential areas in June, along with wrong parking of 44 vehicles and motorcycles that risk the safety of people. A total of 47 stunt driving incidents also reported. He said that, based on complaints received by residents about violations of drivers, including stunt driving and disturbances, legal action was taken against the violators. Delta Air Lines said on Monday it is teaming up with Reckitt Benckiser Group, the makers of Lysol, to research and develop new disinfecting solutions for high-traffic areas in airports and onboard, with a first focus on airplane lavatories. Since the coronavirus pandemic decimated air travel demand earlier this year, airlines, including Delta, have raced to join forces with medical experts and cleaning product makers in an effort to wipe out memories of grimy seat-back tray tables and reassure passengers concerned about exposure to illness-causing bacteria and viruses. Malta’s armed forces have rescued a group of 95 migrants found in distress on a dinghy north of Libya and brought them ashore at a military base near the capital Valletta, authorities said on Monday. A volunteer organization, Alarm Phone, on Sunday morning said the dinghy was overcrowded and taking in water. It said the boat was located within Malta’s search-and-rescue region. A Maltese patrol boat rescued another group of 63 migrants and brought them to Malta on July 17. One of those migrants later tested positive to COVID-19 and the medical authorities put the whole group in quarantine.

The United States consulate in the Chinese city of Chengdu officially closed Monday morning, amid worsening relations between Beijing and Washington. The American flag over the building was lowered at dawn, according to Chinese state-run broadcaster CCTV, and onlookers were moved back by police surrounding the consulate as it prepared to shut.
