Japan has lifted a state of emergency imposed due to the coronavirus in 39 out of 47 prefectures, after a sharp fall in new infections. The order still applies in Tokyo, Osaka and on the northern island of Hokkaido, where new cases are emerging daily. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Japan’s rate of infection had reduced to one-seventh of the country’s peak. He urged the public to be vigilant, wear masks, and keep following distancing guidance. “If possible, before 31 May, we would like to lift the state of emergency for the other regions as well,” Mr. Abe said. Kuwait has reported the recoveries of 504 patients from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, raising the recoveries tally to 6,621. The lab tests affirmed the recovery of those persons, and thereby the will be moved to the rehabilitation ward in the hospital before being discharged in the coming two days, according to a statement from the Ministry. Bahrain MOH announced the death of a 44-year-old male expatriate, taking the country’s total deaths to 14. The Ministry of Health expresses its heartfelt condolences to the individual’s family at this difficult time. The patient, along with all other active COVID-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team. Hackers have launched a wave of cyber-attacks trying to exploit British people working from home, as the coronavirus lockdown forces people to use often unfamiliar computer systems. The proportion of attacks targeting home workers increased from 12% of malicious email traffic before the UK’s lockdown began in March to more than 60% six weeks later, according to data from cybersecurity company Darktrace provided to the Guardian. Bahrain has reported 45 new COVID-19 cases, of which 43 are among expatriate workers and 2 were the contact of active cases, this takes today’s total cases to 336. These newly registered cases bring up the total cases in the kingdom to 9,138 and there are 4,538 active cases of which 8 are critical and the rest stable, according to the Ministry of Health.
